Sungai hitam area that where Proboscis monkey is living is located near the settlement of samboja’s community. The situated is become threat for both mangrove ecosystem and the proboscis monkey too. It is very easy for people who live around the sungai hitam to cut some tree in mangrove ecosystem, catch the Proboscis mankey and also to change the mangrove ecosystem becomes another utility such as embankment. There are a lot of disturbtion my be happen in sungai hitam area . In order to conserve the Proboscis monkey and it’s ecosystem, it is very important to protect the sungai hitam area. It is our responsibility to save and conserve proboscis monkey in sungai hitam.

In the other side the environmental awareness must be increase by making environmental education program and some similar one. Sungai hitam area is a suitable area for environmental education program. The potention of flora specially Proboscis monkey and diversity in mangrove vegetation is reason to develop ecotourism in this area. Community based ecotourism may help the conservation program ini sungai hitam.

The sungai hitam area is being planning as the Proboscis monkey conservation area by LP2SP (Primate Research And Development Unit). The site will be develop as an integrated unit of conservation which consist of :
1. Proboscis monkey in – situ conservation unit
2. Ecotourism unit
3. Environmental education unit
This area will be use for 3 utility ; conservation, ecotourism and also as an area for environmental education.

Donation

At Programme started since 2002, the beginning we done some research and now we want to develop a the conservation project. The sufficient fund is an essential factor to get success in this project. Many stake-holders may give an assistance funds for this project, and we invite some others partner to do this programme
